Recent updates indicate that Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, arrested on June 11 in connection with the murder of Renuka Swamy, is currently in a concerning state in prison. Reports describe him as appearing weak and pale, with significant physical deterioration​ 

Darshan has been spending his time in prison reading spiritual texts like the Bhagavad Gita, Mahabharata, and Ramayana, along with autobiographies of notable figures such as Vivekananda​ 

The case against Darshan involves the torture and murder of Renuka Swamy, who had allegedly sent inappropriate messages to actress Pavithra Gowda, Darshan's close friend. The investigation revealed that Renuka Swamy was lured, tortured, and ultimately killed, with Darshan and several associates implicated in the crime​  

Darshan and other accused are currently held in Parappana Agrahara Central Prison in Bengaluru. This is Darshan's second time in this prison; his first imprisonment was in 2011 for assaulting his wife
